The SILC groups are effectively functioning. The total number of SILCgroups currently stands at 26 with a at least 16 of them being involved in other interventions such as CMDRR, Bee keeping and farmers group. The total amount of savings for the month of November for all the groups is KES 1219200, total amount of loans granted in the month is KES 570490  .13 TOTs have been facilitated to deliver savings and internal lending committees as well as supporting various groups in implementation of Agro ecology and close follow up of various project activities such as the poultry groups, bee keepers, M2M and the CMDRR.
PROGRESS
Training of beneficiaries(SILC groups, farmers groups) on nutrition sensitive production has been started with priorities given to the farmers groups. 34 members have been trained 8 from male headed households and 26 from female headed households. It is expected that those reached will focus preparing their farms early targeting oct/nov rains and embark on planting diversity of crops to be integrated in their meals. In addition, they are expected to start practicing having more than three food groups in their meal and disseminate this information to the mother to mother groups.
The kitchen garden establishment at the permaculture schools have taken the agro ecological model whereby the schools and households are making use of sunken beds, germination beds. Follow ups into schools on the progress of kitchen garden has been done on weekly basis where currently additional 9 sunken beds were planted with vegetables, Mbachi primary 2 kigwambiti primary 5 and kyenire primary 2. Kianthenge primary school and kyenire primary schools being able to harvest the vegetables from the gardens twice every week. project staff in partnership with the school’s permaculture clubs and parents are working towards expanding the sizes of the kitchen gardens and fencing them with a key focus on the Oct-Nov rains. In addition, appropriate plans have been put in place to ensure the kitchen gardens are monitored and watered over the August holiday.

Order of St. Augustine –OSA (Ishiara parish) in partnership with Trocaire with funding from from Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom and Misean Cara is implementing a Community resilience and climate change adaptation project in Embu county specifically in Evurore ward mainly focusing in three locations (Kamarandi, Ndurumori and Iria tune locations).The title of the project is Community resilience and climate change adaptation aimed at ensuring that the Vulnerable communities in the drought-affected semi-arid Evurore ward are more resilient to the impact of shocks and stresses related to climate change.The three year project aims at reaching 4000 households and attain four major outcomes within the project period which are inclusive of :improved levels of economic security, improved levels of food security, improved capacity to protect and manage natural resources in a climate sensitive manner and Improved capacity to plan for, respond to and cope with shocks and stresses related to climate change. Good progress towards attaining the set milestones have been made as far as the project out puts are concerned and so in the next quarters efforts to achieve the project outcomes will be made.
The project beneficiaries usually have an obligation to contribute in all project activities either in cash or in kind for project ownership and sustainability.
