Drylands Natural Resources Centre (DNRC) which is a locally registered Kenya NGO was contracted by Troicare-Kenya to consult in her UKAM project. The assignment entail: Facilitating design and establishment of 7 permaculture demonstration farms, Facilitating design and establishment of permaculture Kitchen Gardens in 15 schools, Training of partner staff, farmers, students, teachers and other community members on permaculture and agro ecology and mentorship of partners, community members and schools.
 This phase covers  facilitating design and establishment of Permaculture Kitchen Gardens in schools. It covers permaculture design for Kambungu Primary school,Kyenire primary school,Kigwambiti primary School,Mbaci primary school,Kigwambiti Secondary School and Kianthenge Primary School. During the training and designing of the school, the students, parent representatives and teachers are involved. The reason for this is to make sure there is ownership by all stakeholders thus ensuring the sustainability of the design implementation. The participants are exposed to: introduction of what is permaculture and its methods of design, what makes a good design and actual designing of the farm. The school visioning is also carried out with a goal of having a permaculture school model which is economically viable, ecologically sound and socially acceptable. During visioning exercise, the participants are asked which elements to be included in the design, what do they want to see the site look like in 5 years, 10 years and 100 years, major challenges in the school and how this can solve the challenges through permaculture etc.

Order of St. Augustine –OSA (Ishiara parish) in partnership with Trocaire with funding from from Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom and Misean Cara is implementing a Community resilience and climate change adaptation project in Embu county specifically in Evurore ward mainly focusing in three locations (Kamarandi, Ndurumori and Iria tune locations).The title of the project is Community resilience and climate change adaptation aimed at ensuring that the Vulnerable communities in the drought-affected semi-arid Evurore ward are more resilient to the impact of shocks and stresses related to climate change.The three year project aims at reaching 4000 households and attain four major outcomes within the project period which are inclusive of :improved levels of economic security, improved levels of food security, improved capacity to protect and manage natural resources in a climate sensitive manner and Improved capacity to plan for, respond to and cope with shocks and stresses related to climate change. Good progress towards attaining the set milestones have been made as far as the project out puts are concerned and so in the next quarters efforts to achieve the project outcomes will be made.
The project beneficiaries usually have an obligation to contribute in all project activities either in cash or in kind for project ownership and sustainability.
